Magic: the Gathering Deck Tech: BGW Birthing Pod

Hi all. I just want to share with you my latest version of the Magic: the Gathering Birthing Pod deck archetype. It is quite obvious that I’ve been addicted to exploring the possibilities on the builds of this deck. The reason is that I need to know which kind of build is suited to defeat the delver decks.

So far, in terms of consistency, Red Green White, or Naya has proven a fast start for the deck, though it still faces problems with the updated decklist of the Delver Blade. That’s why I decided to take on another color combination, the Green White Black.

Here is the initial list:

Lands
1 Evolving Wilds
4 Razorverge Thicket
3 Isolated Chapel
5 Forest
2 Plains
2 Swamp
2 Sunpetal Grove
3 Woodland Cemetery
1 Vault of the Archangel

Creatures
2 Blade Splicer
1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
1 Sheoldred, Whispering One
1 Acidic Slime
3 Viridian Emissary
4 Birds of Paradise
1 Thrun, the Last Troll
2 Fiend Hunter
1 Bitterheart Witch
3 Strangleroot Geist
1 Geist-Honored Monk
1 Grave Titan
1 Sun Titan
2 Avacyn’s Pilgrim
1 Sylvok Replica
1 Skinrender
1 Sunblast Angel
1 Solemn Simulacrum
1 Phyrexian Metamorph

Spells
1 Curse of Death’s Hold
4 Birthing Pod
1 Gideon Jura
2 Oblivion Ring

From the looks of it, it still needed the right creature curve combination to maximize the Birthing Pod. I am still looking for other critters in black that are suited for the deck.

Suggestions are very much welcome. Just hit the comments below. Thanks for reading and until the next blog post.
