DOM Card Feature: Garna, the Bloodflame

For today’s spoiler card discussion of the upcoming Dominaria set this April 27th, we have a Rakdos colored legend creature that I think is mainly a sideboard card for massive removal spells like Fumigate. Presenting below Garna, the Bloodflame.

As of now I don’t think maindecking this creature is a good choice unless the metagame is purely filled with control decks, though the Haste effect to your other creatures is considerable. The five mana cost is somewhat high for a 3/3 and maybe the extra cost is for the etb effect. It is a lesser version of cards like Caller of Claw but it cope up with having your returned creatures to attack on your turn.

I cannot find a reference for a graveyard games themed deck in Standard for a reason to have this in your main deck, but sideboard-wise this will be a good choice. Two copies will suffice as to not affect your creature mana curve.

That is about it for Garna, the Bloodflame. A clue for my next Dominaria Card Feature post is a creature that convinced me that Knights might have a high chance of a tribal theme in Standard.

Until the next post.
