GRN Card Feature: Blood Operative

The set Guilds of Ravnica is slowly turning to be one of the best sets of Magic: the Gathering, with the daily spoilers of the cards affiliated with the first five guilds. One of which that I will talk about today is from the secretive Dimir guild order and the card is called Blood Operative.

The mana cost is fair, so as the power and toughness. Lifelink is also powerful, and the bonus exile upon ETB can stop random graveyard shenanigans maybe of the Golgari or Izzet nature.

What is more relevant is that it can also recur itself as well, with the Surveil trigger. With Dimir being its key guild ability, it is just too normal to recur Blood Operative. What is to be seen here is that deck build. It can be on the option of a Dimir Midrange, similar to what the Scarab God decks do in the current Standard. Another one is into the purely Dimir Control shell, with the operative as one of its small beaters. Hell it can even be a part of Vampires deck from the Ixalan block.

I have yet to come up with a decklist once the complete Guilds of Ravnica spoiler is out. For now, I can say that this creature will surely be one of the relevant metagame definers in GRN Standard.

Until the next post.
