Zendikar’s (Rumored) New Mechanic: Landfall

Earlier today (Philippine time), Rush_Clasic from MTG Salvation forums posted an MTG ad for Zendikar that features a card named Rampaging Baloths in the Rumor Mill. The card that can be partially seen in the ad shows a new mechanic called Landfall. Here’s an excerpt of what Rampaging Baloths do:

Rampaging Baloths 4GG
Creature – Beast (Mythic rare)
Trample
Landfall - Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you may put a 4/4 green Beast creature token (onto the battlefield)
6/6
Landfall seems to be a very interesting mechanic to abuse or play around with. With lots of mana search in today’s Standard, there’s a big possibility to build a new generation of mana ramp decks with this mechanic. Come to think of it, it looks very much powerful with the fetchlands in Onslaught.
As of the moment, it is still labeled as a speculation but I’m pretty sure this one isn’t fake unlike the other ad that was released few days ago.
Edit: The power and toughness is now revealed to be 6/6, pretty good for its six mana cost. It is also known that this will be the release card.

this is really sick!
This is disappointing at most for a release card.
Many of the noobs at my store will see this fun to use, and I’ll see it fun to Tendrils.
I guess this is okay. I like the idea, it would be an interesting way to Path your own creature to take advantage of landfall.
I guess I’ll have to wait and see what the rest has to offer.
