@Norman: Yes, other cards are overpriced too. Volcanic Fallout & Path to Exile to be specific.

@Ben: I just hope Banefire would be 2 dollars lesser than the current price.

Thanks for sharing your opinion guys! :)

Just to comment here like I mentioned on Twitter, Fireball-type spells usually do pretty well in Standard. Demonfire used to be worth $10 or more when it was in Standard as well, and it's inferior to Banefire in just about every way (Demonfire removes the creature, only plus side to it). Anything that can negate counterspells usually has a shot at being pretty good. Split Second was and still is pretty good because of this.

I haven't been super active in Standard recently so I don't quite know whether Banefire will be that great or not, but even if it won't be, it's still in the "hype" phase; first couple weeks after these spells come out. It's tough to judge prices then. After people figure out when it's good or not is when the price will settle to what it "should" be.

But yeah, Runed Halo and Wild Richochet seem like pretty sweet tech against it and other things in Standard right now.

Honestly I think the best thing about Banefire is how badass Sarkhan Vol looks while casting it.

While I agree that that price is a little steep. I've felt that a lot of cards in shards have been overpriced. I got Banefire in my first conflux booster pack and I also got some other choice rares in following packs. I'm planning on grabbing a box of conflux and getting most of the desired cards I need.
