One deck archetype I’ve found from the recent Starcity Games Standard Open Top 8 decks was the version of Black Green Energy played by Stephen Dykman. The list looks to be composed of the typical creatures and removal spells except that a new card

has been included: Dreamstealer. This Menace discarder can be the right answer to disrupt the hand of midrange opponents. Sure for a 1/2 creature, it can be easily killed but with the Eternalize mechanic, it can later on come back to finish the job.

The list though didn’t have Rishkar or Verdurous Gearhulk to boost the Dreamstealer’s power for a better discard effect. I built my version last night and hopefully, I could get to test it on tonight’s FNM. Here below is his decklist that finished in the Top 4 of the event:

25 LANDS
4 Aether Hub
4 Blooming Marsh
5 Forest
4 Hissing Quagmire
8 Swamp

23 CREATURES
2 Dreamstealer
4 Glint-Sleeve Siphoner
2 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet
4 Servant of the Conduit
3 Tireless Tracker
4 Walking Ballista
4 Winding Constrictor

6 INSTANTS and SORC.
3 Fatal Push
3 Grasp of Darkness

6 OTHER SPELLS
2 Liliana, the Last Hope
2 Nissa, Voice of Zendikar
2 Ob Nixilis Reignited

SIDEBOARD
1 Appetite for the Unnatural
2 Crook of Condemnation
2 Lost Legacy
1 Murder
2 Natural State
1 To the Slaughter
4 Transgress the Mind
2 Yahenni’s Expertise

We were recently brewing some Standard decks with my friend Rey Victor and he mentioned of a Green Black version of the Pummeler Energy deck. Aether Revolt offered some new gears for the deck and the need for Red is somehow not that important. The Black replacement opens the access to effective spot removals like Fatal Push as well as discard spells like Transgress the Mind, not to mention the Winding Constrictor. I made an initial decklist of the build below.

4 Servant of the Conduit
4 Winding Constrictor
4 Longtusk Cub
4 Electrostatic Pummeler
4 Bristling Hydra
3 Rishkar, Peema Renegade
2 Verdurous Gearhulk

4 Attune with Aether
4 Blossoming Defense
4 Larger than Life
3 Highspire Infusion

4 Aether Hub
4 Blooming Marsh
6 Forest
6 Swamp
