This weekend was held another Grand Prix in the 2012 season and it was in Orlando, Florida. That was the first Standard GP for the year and the results have proved that the format is still open for innovation and deck techs.

Delver Blade was the popular deck choice that weekend, and the top 8 had two of them. They were thwarted though by two new builds that faced in the tournament’s finals. The face off was between Patrick Chapin, a well known innovator with his updated Grixis control, and Conley Woods, also piloted a unique build of Titan Ramp.

I saw the rogue matchup to be in favor of Conley as Patrick struggled to prevent the beats and the ramp shenanigans. In the end, Chapin fell to Garruk’s board advantage and Woods took the win, two games to nothing.
