It is unlikely that I will have a sort of a political post but I am just to glad this coordinated effort of my beloved Iloilo City with its local government unit and the private sector in order to help prevent the spread of the Corona Virus and to provide solutions and services to the affected sectors which is mostly all of the residents of the city.

Continuous updates are being posted in the Iloilo City Government Facebook page and also in our City Mayor Jerry P. Trenas page. Here below is one example post.

I have also found this feedback post with screenshots of the tweets in Twitter praising the efforts of the city which in a way prove itself to be sustainable in this time of crisis. The term “Wakanda of the Philippines” might be an exaggeration though lol. I still hope that more help will come from the national government. Crossing fingers.

While checking on my newsfeed, I recently saw this post from the Iloilo City Local Youth Development Office – LYDO Facebook page that they supporting the event on the inter-district tournament for the mobile game Mobile Legends. To quote the FB post headline, “ILOILO CITY TO HOLD 1ST MOBILE LEGENDS INTER-DISTRICT TOURNAMENT THIS MARCH”.

Vanessa Jade Pastrana and Arnel De Juan of Mobile Legend Iloilo Official paid a courtesy visit to Iloilo City Mayor JOE III Espinosa and presented their proposal of holding a Mobile Legends Tournament in the City of Iloilo.

ML is now one of the most sought and played the mobile game especially in the country, thus there is a strong desire to create a tournament for the youths who play the game in the City of Iloilo.

Iloilo City Mayor JOE III Espinosa gave his approval and strong support on the proposal as he sees this activity a way to develop teamwork and sportsmanship among the youth through the multiplayer mobile game. It is a fun and engaging way to promote camaraderie and socialization among the youth of Iloilo City.

Mayor JOE III now integrates e-sports as a part of the Anti-Drug Program of the City of Iloilo.

I am happy that people nowadays see online games as more of the professional gaming scene rather than just vice of kids and young adults. I do play these types of games until now because of convenience on mobility and is more accessible than sitting in front of a personal computer. I am hoping this will be frequently followed by related tournaments in other popular online games today.

In the first meeting of our class in Planning Workshop, we have agreed with our teacher that our project output at the end of the semester will be a Local Shelter Plan of the class’ chosen LGU, which most likely will still be the Municipality of Pavia. For a document reference, I have decided to check on Iloilo City’s Local Shelter Plan for 2016-2025. I needed to know the pattern of the topics and the data to include so we could compare it to the current information available at the Pavia LGU. It may not be necessarily a carbon copy of the document but only the important parts should be properly added. Housing is one of the major issues especially for a highly-urbanized city.

The topics highlighted from the Iloilo City Local Shelter Plan are the following: The Shelter Planning Process, Assessment of Shelter Need, Assessment of Affordability, Assessment of Resources for Shelter Provision, Work and Financial Plan, Monitoring Scheme and DRRM.

I may sound excited since the complete outline has not yet been introduced by Ma’am Marfil but since I had to take time to grasp the idea and the proper procedure in writing and creating this plan, I decided to start on ahead. It will still be part of my work as a Project Development Officer here in the Iloilo CPDO so it is somewhat a long term benefit. I might need to add this to my schedule on my daily readings. That is if I ever will surely start one.
