It was a major achievement for Brandon Burton on last weekend’s Grand Prix in Indianapolis as he claimed the championship trophy. The format was Modern and he brought a deck which speed and a burn to the face as its foremost features. The deck was Naya Burn and here below is the decklist:

It seems that the imminent banning of a card component of the Eldrazi deck will come true in the next B/R announcement. This is due to another GP dominance in the Modern format last weekend in Melbourne, Australia. The version of the deck

was White-Blue Eldrazi and was piloted by David Mines. His Finals opponent, to no surprise to anyone, was a mirror match with Maitland Cameron.

So I proposed that we will have a Modern tournament on this coming Saturday, March 22, 2014 and the good thing is a lot of players agreed to participate. So far the count is 8 players and I’m hoping we can up it to at least ten so it will be a four-round tournament. Here are the tournament details:

I will be building the decks on tomorrow night but first, I’ll be checking Raoul’s EDH albums and decks for the components. Hopefully it is at least three decks that are competitive enough for the tournament. We shall see what I can come up with.

The July month-end Modern tournament last Saturday was somewhat of a disappointment. First, because of the lack of players that attended the event, and second, the untimely power outage at the start of Round 1. About 10 players readied to battle, but the odds weren’t in our favor on that afternoon. Partially responsible is the bad, heavy rain weather.

Anyhow, here is the list that I brought to that tournament. It is a Jund deck based on Orrin Beasley’s GP Columbus list.
