It was a big surprise but it was inevitable. The Meathook Massacre has been banned in Standard in the latest Magic: the Gathering B&R announcement and has left a relevant hole in the deck builds of the current top-tier midrange decks in the format. We bid goodbye to that Legendary enchantment from Midnight Hunt and look forward to what tools to replace and be on par with it.

In effect, adjustments will then again be made to these decks though I think their main strategy would still be not 100% intact but is still a concrete game plan on how they win games in Standard. One particular deck is the Grixis Midrange and me having played this archetype in the past have seen how efficient is the Meathook in making sure opponents’ early aggro would be kept in check.
