I miss eating on a hot pot. My vacant days should be for those hot pot sessions. I have seen on my FB newsfeed friends enjoy frying those thin-sliced porks and wrapping them in kim-chi leaves before eating. I miss dipping those squid balls into the chili paste before taking a bite. Ah, I just miss everything about Chinese Hot Pot.

Here is some throwback in memory:

While I was pondering on finishing my laundry yesterday, I decided to browse some YouTube videos on the topics I’m following and found one that discusses how to start a hotpot at home with the local ingredients from the nearby supermarket. Given that the poster is located in Manila, she had a lot listed in which some of them aren’t found here or may not be available at regular groceries. I may need to check those at the Korean store in Jaro. Anyhow, the video was quite enticing so I decided to do a hot pot that afternoon. I went to SM supermarket this time to see if they had more ingredients available than that at Robinsons and found new stuff. They were new variance, a few of them somewhat similar to those I bought in HK, but they seem to be very pricey. Still, I decided to try them out and bought at least four new type of balls to include in my hotpot.

This was one of the scene that I do when I decide to start a hot pot session on my vacant Sunday afternoon. I usually do it at the boarding house, but I have not invited my friends yet to come over.

The last hot pot session was a Jason’s house in Mandurriao where we also cooked burger patties and pork chops to add with the pot. I was fun, though our broth is not that impressive. Jason suggested that he will buy authentic and spicy sauces for the next session.

I almost emptied there all of my ingredients stored at the bhaus ref as I have been storing them already for almost a month. I would not wanted them expired.

Anyhow, I would need to plan on the next holiday date the hot pot eat out with the group. For now, I just need to locate a grocery that sells authentic fish balls, squid balls, and the like. Maybe I will ask Jason about it.
