Good day y’all. I am just sharing a recent local MTG tournament results at Pro Reis place which is frequently joined by almost all of the Standard players here in Iloilo City. I have not checked on it physically due to other stuff I had to do and so I only messaged Rei every Saturday evening while assuming that the event has just finished.

Here below is the result of the Standard Showdown held yesterday afternoon:

High player attendance was observed in the last two Standard tournaments at Pro Reis place and I am very happy with it. First of was during the Friday Night Magic event wherein there was a total of 24 participants which made the place jam-packed with people wanting to spell sling on Standard. Here are the Top players after the Swiss rounds:

Come Saturday, Standard Showdown event is always preferred by the community because of the special Showdown booster pack prizes. Twenty players attended the tournament and here are the Top 4 after five Swiss rounds:

We finally have decided on the first MTG Iloilo community activity with the release of Guilds of Ravnica this weekend via a Rules and Policy Discussion meeting. Ace has opened up the intent to do this and we have discussed it also with Oliver. With the reference of my previous session on the RIX Rules discussion last March, we have set to have this on for GRN on Saturday evening which is in time for the weekend release of the set. We know that the players are still not in full understanding of the new cards’ rules so in this way we can clarify and inform them of the correct rulings. The chosen venue was Nth Dimension and thanks to the owner as they have an extra room and an overhead projector to lend to us.

I am still thinking of what freebies to give to the attendees but for now, it’s the Magic Judge tokens and maybe some spare foil cards. Here below is the event details.

Dominaria Standard was very much welcomed in the Magic: the Gathering Iloilo City Community. That was reflected in the recent local tournaments, in particular, the Saturday Standard Showdown event. Last Saturday’s attendance listed 22 players which were quite a high count for a Saturday event in months. I’d recall the last 20+ attendees were on the RIX Store Championships. Anyhow, the Top 4 players after 5 Swiss rounds were:

3rd, Speedy Diesto (RB Vehicles)
4th, Tonton Co (BW Historic)

This Saturday, I am hoping it will be the same number if not nearing the twenty player count. Blue White Control and Red Black Vehicles would still be the dominating decks in the metagame and that would be expected on these afternoon’s tournament matchups.

The schedule of Saturday Showdown tournament at Rei’s place will be at around 3:00 pm with an entrance fee of 100php and so I’m hoping to drop by there to play. Here is the post at the MTG Iloilo Community page of last Saturday’s event:

While browsing through my old document on my laptop, I came upon a file named ‘MTG New Interview’ which contains questions for the player profile component of the tournament report articles for a Magic the Gathering website that I used to write content before. Looking upon it, I have thought why not bring back the player profiles page that we have on the Magic Iloilo website before? Ramon and I were the ones running the website along with the players’ article contribution which we published at least three articles per month. Going back, the new player’s profile home will be on Facebook on the Magic the Gathering Iloilo Community Page. It can be possible if the players interviewed answer the questions diligently and honestly.

I will open this up with Ramon and Franz once I get a vacant time in my schedule. For now, here I will share a few interesting questions from the document.
