Today’s Magic: the Gathering Streets of New Capenna Standard deck tech goes with the Top 8 results of the Open @ The Pizza Box tournament and the highlighted deck Orzhov Midrange. It is already a known archetype in the current Standard format but I decided to check on the build again as what new card strategies were included in the list.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;
	min-width:100px;
	max-width:970px;
	width:100%;
	height:200px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-2323336148464359" data-ad-slot="7353149719"></ins>

The setup of the deck goes with the main strategy of sustaining the mid to late game while at the same time trying to curve on the first two turns. What is unique in the build is the card choice: Silverquill Silencer. It can be a good attacker early on but on naming the best cards against certain matchups can be quiet tricky especially if facing unusual deck archetypes.

The rest of the list are just the same on the best card choice suited for the deck. I can say that it is typical & generic form and the sideboard plan will just cope up. I do, however, preferred some spells such as Duress as a good discard spell to main deck. It can also help the Silencer in naming the possible card the opponent will play on the next turns and take advantage of the trigger ability.

Here below is the discussion video I made on the slight update of the Standard Orzhov Midrange deck and here is the reference deck list.

Seeing the consistency of the players in the weekly Magic: the Gathering Saturday Standard tournament at Reis Place was quite satisfying. That may be because they have mostly established the decks they are playing and that was already updated with the cards from the recent set, Streets of New Capenna. As for my card pool team, we have already fulfilled the top-tier decks and are just mainly adjusting with the builds to optimize the usage of our cards. The dual lands might be a slight issue but more card components are already on the way.

Last Saturday’s attendance was around fourteen, even if I was not or a teammate able to join. These are the regulars but I was still hoping to see a new face in the community to be at that competition level. Let us just get our hopes up as we try to schedule an open house learn-to-play session soon.

Here below are the results of the Saturday Standard tournament last June 18th at the current active LGS in Iloilo City. Good job and congratulations to two of my team that went 1st and 2nd place, Ace and Jan.

My initial reaction after that win of the (Jeskai Hinata Midrange) deck in the New Capenna Championships this weekend is “There goes the old school.” We do not really need the families of the new set to be that effective in the Standard deck strategy. The strategy of controlling the board and going airforce with Hinata and Goldspan Dragon is just consistent.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
 style="display:inline-block;

The other Standard deck that stand out in the tournament and was also a finalist was Esper Midrange, centered on Raffine, Scheming Seer’s Connive ability along with spot removals, counterspells, and card draws effects.

Here below is the winning Jeskai Hinata list piloted by Jan Merkel who initially thought that he did not qualify for the top 8 after the Swiss rounds.

Hey guys, I am sharing today a Magic: the Gathering decklist for the Standard format which strategy has adapted the aggressive aspect of the Riveteers colors in Streets of New Capenna. By its meaning, the decklist consist of the creature curve of that family colors and also utilizing a late-game Blitz creatures plan and a flipped Fable of the Mirror-Breaker. Of course, the meathook added to the spice up the damage race.

I think this will be a fond deck of choice for the Magic Arena Standard format gameplay and also on MTGO. Arena, having wildcards to burn for the expensive Meathook Massacre, is pretty much the practical way to have these cards added to the collection. I have also read from a tweet of its high win rate against the current metagame, especially on the Esper Aggro matchup. That said, you can share your insights and experiences of this deck build if ever you were able to try this on your MTG Arena grind.

That is a wrap-up for now, we will have another deck post update once adjustments are again implemented. Until next time.

The Mono-Red Aggro or Red Deck Wins is still considered to be a strong contender in the Magic: the Gathering Standard format, given the popularity of tri-color decks from Streets of New Capenna. It might get a few specific cards from the new set to add to its arsenal but we are pretty sure that its speed & aggressive curve will still be there. Also, it is pretty much easy to set up on MTG Online and Magic Arena. Next up is an updated RDW decklist.
