In the Ragnarok M 2.0 War of Crystals last Sunday, we faced an old adversary guild: HeroesPH. I remembered when I first joined the guild, we were targetting them already by transferring channels to where they are located and then battling them, testing their defense. At that time we were at a complete 100 members and most of us are already strong characters built and equips.

Last Sunday, we were at around 60 plus attendance and it was a close fight with them on gaining control of the center crystal. We also fought another guild, Dancers, that were also trying to dominate the MVP area. It was hard managing the people resource as a slight error will cost us a crystal that is needed to win.

In the Ragnarok Online Mobile War of Crystals event, there is no 100% assurance that you will get 1st place even for a strong guild. What matters here is the strategy, wit, and ideal gameplay to outmaneuver the opposing guilds and get to the main objective of five crystals.

This is one important lesson that we learned last Sunday’s War of Crystals battle. We admit that we are not a strong guild but that battle marked a reality that we were outplayed.

The Ragnarok Online Mobile War of Crystals is purely a guild effort and strategy. Each of its phases, starting from the MVP arena up to the control of the Crystal towers, depends mainly on the detailed plan of the leader and each of its members. The sustainability in battle then relies on the equips, buffs, skills, and other items that need to be activated during the event. For example, healing items bought at the Cat Cafe guild facility and Weapon Repair Alloys in Exchange are placed in the items’ quick-access slots for easy activation later on.

As my current guild is undergoing the rebuilding process, the descend in the members was expected. We were at 77 members during the War of Crystals event last Sunday, and so our guild leader had to adjust the strategy by mainly protecting the nearest MVP area from our spawning point in full force. Only one party was assigned to guard our imperium and would call for backup if needed.

What I’ve noticed in the Ragnarok Online Mobile War of Crystals event is the hit-or-miss setup with regards to the matchups of the four guilds. In the Team Moon bracket, there are times that you will be facing a strong and former Team Sun guild and at times a mediocre semi-active alternate guild. It depends on how lucky the guild is or how their lottery on the matches works. Either way, your guild’s goal is to capture five crystals as early as possible during the course of the event.

I am sharing below our latest War of the Crystals event recap with my guild, Wonderboys.

Competing in the Team Sun bracket of the Ragnarok Online Mobile War of Crystals event is still a long steep stair to climb for our guild. The opposing guilds are usually strong and in the top ranks in terms of longevity of stay in that bracket. One particular example here is our WoC result last Sunday, Feb 14th. We faced the Top guilds Fratrum, Reverie, and HG, guilds that are within the Top 20 rank. Executing our game plan is just very impossible.

I haven’t updated with a blog post on our weekly War events in Ragnarok Online Mobile but it is still on-going as I am continuously posting them on my Youtube channel, Deathmarked TV. On last weekend’s War of Crystals recap, it was another competitive match for the guild but our main gameplay of taking over the MVP kills worked this time.

Back in the Team Sun ranking for the War of Crystals event and we had a tough matchup again. The opposing guild this time was Espresso which is one of the Top 100 guilds in the Eternal Love server. Our main game plan of gaining control of the MVP area was once again trifled and so we went for plan B to crystal hug the nearest Crystal tower from the base.

The guild leader announced in our FB group a new gameplan for the Ragnarok Mobile War of Crystals last Sunday in the objective of securing the MVP area against opposing guilds and capturing the nearest crystal from base when the capture countdown timer begins. Our Team names were again updated but the initial gameplan when the event starts is still the same.

We faced a former Team Sun guild in our MVP area but the good was were able to challenge them and hold them back in the stairs prior. Check out the video below of the War of Crystals battle recap last Sunday, Nov 22nd, 2020.

The guild’s council has recently decided that they will try with a stronger and more competitive guild and that partly means parting ways with our current guild. The merge with Enigma guild was nearing a month and the new members were somewhat disappointed with that decision.

It led to the members slowly leaving one by one and eventually all of the members that merged with us, and the guild members’ numbers were almost cut in half.

The change in leadership with the remaining members and had us deciding to find a new home and so they did. They had talked with the leaders of the Wonderboys guild on the plan to merge and this time, us joining their guild. They also agreed to retain the guild name which I don’t mind at all.

To cut things shorts, I am now part of the Wonderboys guild and family. There is still an adjustment period but I appreciate all the help they’ve done on the daily guild quests and weekly events.

Last Sunday was my first War of Crystals with them and though we went unopposed, I still get to feel the strategy that our former leaders have planned on.

It was a struggle and quite frustrating to win in in the Ragnarok Online Mobile War of Crystals event under the Team Sun bracket. That is because that bracket is where the strongest and top-ranking guilds are categorized and facing three of them is tough.

To recall the event objective, the guild which first manages to collect 5 [Crystal Resources] wins. If after 30 minutes no guild was able to collect 5 [Crystal Resources], then the guild with the most crystals collected wins. If both teams achieved the same number of Crystals, the one which achieved it first will be declared the winner.

Situations can be a two-way or three-way battle starting with the positioning in the MVP area. It is what I think is a crucial part of the gameplay to be successful in the following line of play. Killing 4 MVP monsters gets the guild to craft a Crystal Resource so it is also important to have one party in-charge on it.

As I have observed in the past months battling in this event since the 4th job class was implemented, here are some tips to win more in the ROM War of Crystals.

Be as perfect attendance as possible. More guild members online mean more people resources to work around with the strategic gameplay. I see it that overwhelming other guilds may not work all the time, but it is easier to hold crystal towers if there are more people that defend it.

Assign the parties with the best job combinations to strategic points on the map. There are areas crucial such as the narrow alley that can lock off other guilds from reinforcing to their members in the middle of the map. At least two parties geared with powerful equips and skills that can kill them as quickly as possible. In that way, going through the crystal towers will now have lesser resistance for the main force to occupy.

Strategic Land Protection is the key. To avoid your members getting wipe out by skill-based attacks, get them to step under the Land Protection area as much as possible. Also, find a way for your Royal Guards to fend off the opponent guild’s LP effect. This is again on your guild positioning at the start of the clash, mostly done on the MVP area.

Always carry a Summon Syrup for the party leaders. As what I always hear on the command on Discord, PT leaders are assigned to have this during the crucial part of taking over and controlling the crystal tower territory needed to complete the five crystal resource.

To conclude, having geared to better PVP equipment and has more ways to last in the battlefield i.e. a higher hit point is also essential for the guild to be able to carry out their game plan in winning the War of Crystals Guild vs Guild battle.

Another Sunday night means another Ragnarok Online Mobile War of Crystals event schedule. Still under Team Moon, our guild now strives to go up the rank with a first place finish tonight. Our Team assignments has been specified to our roles during the first minute with the MVP and during the Crystal capture phase. Our party assignment was on the part of securing the farthest crystal from our spawn point.

Our guild in Ragnarok M: Eternal Love, Don Papa, was able to get in the Team Sun bracket in the War of Crystals event of the game and last Sunday was another intense competition battle. We went with our usual plan to take on the nearest MVP area, secure it, and then go with the crystal capture next. However, that would depend if we can break through the opponent guilds’ defenses.

We entered the map in the lower-left position and the next right is the MVP area. Early in the game, we encountered another tough guild in that area and so we are forced to abandon the MVP plan and proceed with the capture of the crystals.
