While we expected the barrage of Oko decks in the Standard Magic Fest after the banning of Field of the Dead, one particular deck in this weekend’s Magic Fest (or Grand Prix) Nagoya has proved that it can handle the matchup well on its archetype’s gameplan. The deck is pretty basic: a version of Blue White Control. This was piloted by the Chinese player Yiming Zhi which was undefeated in 13 rounds of the event.

At an initial look, it seems to be an ordinary control deck but with specific cards to deal with the Oko matchup. Board sweeps deals with the mana dudes and “man-lands” while late game Agent of Treachery is a nuisance in gaining control of their best threat. The two copies of Mass Manipulation can also back-breaking once played at the right moment.

The deck unfortunately, only finished in 2nd place. It lost in the finals against the last Oko deck standing in the tournament. Still, it is an interesting take to try in your local metagame.

Here below is the complete decklist:

Maindeck
2 Agent of Treachery
2 Brazen Borrower
1 Gadwick, the Wizened
