It is another Saturday visit at our local Magic game store, Pro Reis place, and I have yet to drop the card components for my card pool teammates. It was last week when I did some booster pack opening and so I decided to go for another batch. This time, three Throne of Eldraine booster pack purchased. I am thinking to be lucky that time to least open a Fabled Passage or Murderous Rider.

I took this video in a co-working space in Timawa area and the good thing is the light position above the station I rented. It was perfect for the video but I forgot to bring my cellphone stand in order to properly place the camera angle. I ended up innovating with some sticky notes placed on a pile to act as the stand. I think it turned out okay after the camera adjustment.

The card pulls, unfortunately, were not that great if you have checked the video already. I guess I will try my luck again next time and the next purchase will probably from an online store I have found before. Stay tuned for this one.

It was a very hectic week last week but I was able to get the time to drop by Pro Reis place last Friday evening. I needed to because the cardpool mates wants to get back the card components for the Mardu Knights and Golgari Adventures. After delivery of the cards, I saw that Rei has restocked his Throne of Eldraine boosters and so I decided to do some instant pack opening.

Every time a new set comes out, I have my usual routine of buying boosters packs in the hopes of pulling out specific card components needed for the card pool and also the money cards to be sold at its highest price trend in the market. I have observed that in the current Throne of Eldraine set, the prices of the Rares and Mythics are on the downward trend. This in particular to those who’s use in Standard is not that relevant. I made a few mistakes in the price predictions in the previous sets when I placed pre-orders but this time, it was a good thing that I didn’t. I avoided losing money to cards which prices drastically plummeted.

Anywho, back to the opening scenario. The Throne of Eldraine Prerelease was the last time I opened the boosters and so I was longing to open the new ones. Stocks arrived on time but given that Rei prioritized first those who preordered their booster boxes. It was then afterwards during a local tournament that I was able to buy. Here below is the picture of the cards opened by the batch:

Standard metagame-wise, Lovestruck Beast and maybe Giant Killer could become a sideboard card here. I saw some Doom Foretold based deck builds but not that of a top tier. The average card value of the six would be at the least two US dollars so this is basically a failed purchase.

I might try again the next time I got extra cash. I have heard of some specific cards getting more expensive but it is a long shot and more of luck if going for just six booster packs. We shall see.

This weekend will finally be the Prerelease event for the newest Magic set, Throne of Eldraine, and the people are pretty sure excited to try the new cards. I myself would really love to try the interaction of the Knights tribe and the card advantage of Adventure creatures without worrying of having too much spells in my sealed deck. The schedule for the two local game stores are as follows:

Registration Fee: P1,500 (includes one Prerelease kit and extra booster pack for prize)
18 slots for the event.

Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Pro Reis Place
Time: 12:30pm
Entry Fee: P1,500 (includes on PR kit and one Throne of Eldraine booster to be added to the total number of wins. Pack is not to be used in deck construction.)
36 slots for the event.

The number of reserved players so far barely half of the number of slots of the two Prerelease events so there is still time to reserve one or just walk in on that day. Be sure to prepare the things that you’d need like basic lands, card sleeves and dices.
