So we have scheduled a tournament this coming Wednesday to accommodate the new players who would want to experience their first competitive event. The format is Standard Pauper and today I started to build some decks to be borrowed by these new peeps.

First up is the White Black Tokens deck in which I copied the list from PDC Magic and did a few changes with cards from Dragons of Tarkir. A preview of the deck is on the banner above.

Next is a Green White Convoke deck which I based on an Intro Pack in Magic 2015. With the extra cards from the boosters I have purchased before, it was just easy to complete the deck.

The third deck done is the Red White version of Heroics, and I have added Rebound cards from DTK for improved efficiency of Heroic triggers. Here is the reference list.

Lastly, I have built a Mono Red aggro deck for a teammate. The changes were simple, like switching Swiftspear to Valley Dasher; Stoke the Flames to Collateral Damage, and adding back the heroic Akroan Crusader.

I am hoping for at least ten players for tomorrow’s tournament so it will be a four-round event, with the Carbo brothers bringing their recruits. This will be their first stepping stone to becoming the future players of the community. Let us just hope it will happen.

I am not into Gunpla commission jobs skill-wise and experience-wise, but a kumpare requested for restoration of his old out-of-the-box built Gunpla kits. One of which is the HG Arms Astray PMC Custom from the Gundam Seed series.

My first step was to dissemble the parts and group them according the color. After a few hours of careful parts separation, they were sorted and placed in the organizer box.

The plan is just to detail the parts with panel lines, either using the Copic marker or via panel wash with Tamiya Accent Color Black. After that, I might have to fix the parts with sticker before top coating them with Bosny Flat Clear. The original color scheme will be retained for most of the outer armor whereas the dark blue parts might be repainted with that same color or Dark Grey.

Part two on the paint jobs and stuff to be posted.

As for an update of this ‘current’ Gunpla project, I have done removing the parts from the runners and snapbuilding the mobile suit. I did the assembly as sort of a demo build during the GBI exhibit for Fathers’ Day celebration of Robinsons Iloilo. The next step now is to separate the parts and prepare them for painting. Here is the assembled/snapbuilt HG Build Strike MS.

The parts are then separated with the help of the hobby knife and my sort-of-long fingernails.

I have also started panel washing some of the parts with panel lines. Here are the parts before cleaning them with lighter fluid.

I am somehow getting back my drift on to continuing my build of my backlog Gunpla kits. Since I am cancelling my build project on the HG Nu Gundoom Ground Type due to the parts issue, I have decided to grab this kit from the Gundam Build Fighters series which I bought a few months back and start a new project.

There is not yet a definite plan of the paint job of this kit so it will most likely be the standard Flat Clear top coat. I will try to add a few waterslide decals from Samuel Decals for added details and maybe darken some edges with Tamiya Weathering Master.

So I have decided to continue working on the HG Nu Gundoom Ground Type despite the missing parts in Runner A. It is already too late for me to have the kit replaced so I will just resort to alternate fix to these parts. Last Sunday afternoon was the vacant time that I get to work on this project and here are a few updates.

First off is my always messy work area just outside my room here in the HQ. If you click on the whole photo, you’ll notice the usual tools that I use in assembling my plamo projects. Next pic is the snap fitted part of the kit’s torso. See the missing part on the lower chest area?

The back pack details look very accurate which I’ve decided to panel wash with Tamiya Panel Accent Color black. Here are the before and after pics.

I also detailed those dots with a silver paint marker and the next step would be to get a fix to cover that missing part on the chest and continue with the snap assembly of the rest of the kit.

So it is the start of another Gunpla project and the kit that I’ve decided to work on is the HG 1/144 Gundam Geminass 01. This is a 90’s kit so I’m expecting simplicity on the design and assembly. I think just last year, Dragon Momoko released a sort-of remastered bootleg version of the kit which somewhat improved its looks and they also had the 02 version. Anyhow, we shall see how I can detail the looks of this kit to match the recent version.

I’ve been slacking on the updates for the Gunpla projects, but I am glad to say that these projects have been completed as of this posting. This should be just a recap of the works done. The kit project update for today is the HG 1/144 scale Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode by Daban Model.

To recall, the mobile suit is already completely assembled, and the pending job is on painting the weapons and assembling the Unicorn Head base. It was the first head base in my collection, so I got quite excited about assembling this one. I noticed some lines that needed some panel wash, so I applied the black panel accent color after removing the parts on the runners. Drying and cleaning the excess paint was the only delay and assembling this head base was somewhat unique, as it has the mechanism to transform from Unicorn mode into Destroy mode. Here are some pics.

Here are the assembled and painted with semi-Gun Metal finish gattling gun weapons that are an add-on to the kits. I’ve then test-fitted it on the right arm of the Unicorn. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.

So yeah, I am back on track again in building the Gunpla kits as the Game day weekend has been concluded. Browsing through the current work projects, I’ve decided to finish the beam rifle of the HG RGM Jesta which is the only thing left to complete the build. First, here are some shots as I assembled the components of the mobile suit.

As for the beam rifle, what I did was fill the panel lines first with Tamiya Panel Accent Color Black and then highlighted these small circles with a Silver paint marker. The last done was the sticker for the scope and then top coated the parts with Bosny Flat Clear.

The first picture below was after the panel wash was done. Second one was the final look of the rifle after top coat.

Coping up to finish my backlog kits seems like a forever task. The main cause is getting the time between work, and MtG stuff. Weekends would be my best resort but sometimes we have scheduled gigs at Snapcaster studios & which mostly consumes most of the day. Anyhow, it is a new week so it is a start of another Gunpla (or shall we say plamo to be safe) project.

The kit is the HG Nu Gundoom Ground Type which I bought last year from Raphael Gundam, an online seller based in Bulacan. This 1/144 scale is uniquely design based I think from a resin kit, and it looks bulky for its scale size with the height nearing that of a Master Grade kit from the Wing Gundam series.

If given the time, I will be changing the color scheme of some of the armor parts to that of Forest Green Army colors. We shall see if we can find the right color combination. Stay tuned.

After completing the build of the High Grade Unicorn Destroy Mode together with its headbase, I decided to proceed right away to the next Gunpla project. The kit I chose was the HG RGM Jesta, another mobile suit from the Gundam Unicorn series.

Last Sunday rest day was the right occasion for me to start building this Gunpla. It was the usual cutting of parts from the runners and then removing the nub marks. I have decided to make this as simple as possible, though I planned to place a few waterslide decals on it.

Working on my kits recently has been very haggard due to the prioritized client works. It is a slow progress but eventually it will be finished. As of this posting, the mobile suit of the HGUC Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode is already assembled so the next thing needed is the Gattling gun weaponry which is to be painted ala Gun Metal.

So just to give you guys some update of the build on this post, arms and legs are now assembled as well as its backpack. The rocket boosters were painted Metallic Silver to match the real ones.

As I am nearly in completion of the MG GM Custom, I have decided to continue working on the Gunpla kit which I referred to as my lucky kit for the Chinese New Year (Year of the Wooden Horse): the HGUC Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode.

After cutting most of the white parts from the runners, I separated a few of them for panel line washing with Tamiya Accent Color Black. The rest were spray painted with Bosny Flat Clear. Also, the blue parts were painted with Dark Blue and also top coated with Flat Clear to remove the glossy surface finish.

So far I have been doing a quick progress of this Gunpla build & here are a few pics of the work:
