As I have recently worked on updating the Socio-Ecological Profile of Iloilo City for the year 2016, I acquired the data sent by the region’s Department of Tourism on the list of tourist attractions in the city. I never knew Iloilo to be that rich in heritage and culture and that we were able to preserve most of the sites.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;
	min-width:100px;
	max-width:970px;
	width:100%;
	height:200px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-2323336148464359" data-ad-slot="7353149719"></ins>

The list consists of churches, mansion houses, and relevant landmarks. Most of the churches not only within the city but also in various towns and municipalities in the province were the icons that Spain left to us. It is important that we know the history of each of these heritage spots and treasure it generation by generation. The notables are:

Jaro Cathedral – the famous cathedral that houses and celebrates the feast day of Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria (Our Lady of Candles). That is every February 2.

Molo Church – located in the district of Molo, it is affectionately known as the “Women Church” because of the sixteen nearly life-size images of female saints occupying the columns on either side of the church’s center aisle. Dr. Jose Rizal paid a visit to this church during the late 19th century because of the renowned paintings of biblical characters within its structures.

Arevalo Church – Home of the 3rd oldest Sto. Niño image. There are only three original images of the child Jesus in the whole archipelago. The oldest is found in Cebu, which was discovered by Legaspi in 1565, 2nd in Tondo Church found in 1572, and the 3rd in Arevalo.

As for the heritage mansions and houses, we have:

Nelly Garden – Built-in 1928 and was commissioned by the philanthropist and statesman Don Vicente Lopez y Villanueva together with his wife, Doña Elena Hofilena y Javelona. The place was named after their eldest daughter Nelly. This grand mansion sits on the four-hectare property in the Jaro district.

Lizares Mansion – Sitting on a sprawling estate and resplendent in white paint along the highway in Tabuc-Suba, Jaro. It was once the mansion and villa of the Lizares family sold to the Dominican Order of the Philippines in the 1970’s and is now the seat of Angelicum School, a Catholic School run by the Dominican Order of Preachers.

Molo Mansion – the recently restored historic house, Yusay-Consing Mansion fronting the Molo plaza has now become a heritage attraction to visitors and locals alike. A big thanks to SM Land Inc. for initiating and funding the restoration of not only the mansion but also turning the surroundings into a sort of a park and outdoor shopping market. The Yusay-Consing Mansion was built in the 1920s and was originally owned by Doña Petra Lacson-Yusay. It was later handed down to the family of Timoteo Consing Sr., who served as Iloilo governor from the year 1935 to 1937.

Casa Mariquit – Two-century-old house, considered one of the oldest existing houses in Iloilo and where the Javellana Family once resided.

One of the family members, Maria Mariquit Javellana lived there with her husband, the former Vice President of the Philippines, Fernando Lopez, Sr.

Casa Mariquit has located a few blocks from Jaro plaza going to Tabuc Suba.

That is about it for now. There is much more that I would want to share so stay tuned for part 2 of Iloilo City’s heritage attraction on this blog. Thanks for reading.

So recently I’ve decided to finally upgrade my mobile phone to decent and useable version. That is after three years of using a Huawei Ascend which basic uses were social media interactions and as a music gadget.

The new one was a ZenFone 2 5.5 which runs a 4GB RAM with 32 GB of data storage. This was recommended by my friend JayR who has been using it for at least a year now. I bought it last Tuesday at SM City Cyberzone, priced at around 9k. Pretty decent for all of its features. Now, exploring through the possible apps and games that I can enjoy, it has been quite satisfying. I can say that for a first timer, the power of this phone is quite unreal.

As for the blog title, I have just installed the WordPress app so I could update my blog when I am on a trip which I will quite enjoy since I could post recent activities as it happens. I will just follow up later on with a decent header photo and all those tags, links and stuff.

For now, let us wrap this up with my first ever mobile blog post. Yay!

I can say that this is sort of a recap of a conversation from last Sunday and I would like to apologize beforehand for the plethora of grammatical errors. Here is how the story goes:

She told me that she needed to go somewhere to chill because of the summer heat.

She told me that she visited an unfamiliarly new place, with tea and finger foods.

She told me that it was a nice place to hang out, though she seemed to be lonely. I assumed she wanted some company.

She told me that I might not have some spare time that afternoon and that she is just disturbing me.

She told me that the place is near the main front entrance, somewhat on the left side. I went to the other main entrance. We were slightly confused about the communication.

She told me that she bothered me during my laundry session. I said it was not a problem. I am just happy to be there, to see her.

She told me to order something, I got a large Lychee iced tea.

She told me about work, that it is quite tiring for her already.

She told me that the travel to that town is little by little exhausting her.

She told me that she wanted to leave, but the contract must be ended first.

She told me about the hours of travel from the capital town and also to the patients’ houses.

She told me about the daily chores checkups and details on the medication of each of the patients.

She told me that she is somewhat enjoying it but she just hates the travel part.

To be continued…

I wanted to share this fix that I have found online while I was looking for a solution to fix a friend’s laptop. The issue is that all of the exe files and desktop shortcuts has been changed to the .lnk extension and they could not be opened to the right program. The file association was instead changed to that of Internet Explorer.

I have Googled for the fix of this and found the right site which explains the repair using the .REG file. The site can be found here.

The next step is to download the file mention in this website. It is a utility software that unassociated the file types in Windows 7 & Windows Vista. Here is what it looks like:

Download and then unzip the contents to a folder and run the file unassoc.exe. Select from the list the file type with the .lnk extension and click Remove fille association (user) button. You will then notice the changes if the original icons are returned on the programs. You can then restart your computer to make sure the fix is implemented.

This is somehow not an M: tG or Gundam post but what the heck, it’s too worthy not to share. I’ve just found this news yesterday while browsing through the interwebs. FHM Philippines will finally feature Alodia Gosiengfiao as its cover babe for their July 2013 issue. The news regarding this has been the talk on various sources, but on this blog I’ve checked it is really confirmed.

See FHM’s teaser video below. Does it give hints of Alodia? I’m pretty sure it’s her.

Here is a somewhat random pic I’ve found while I am browsing through Gunpla forums and FB groups while looking for tutorials, Gunpla news and stuff. It is a pic of the box and the kit of the Android mascot. It has caught my attention and wondered when & where this promo kit was released. Anyway, here is the picture of the Android model kit.

I have been a fan of Starcraft since it the first was released about a decade ago, and even now after Starcraft II goes in the gaming scene. I play with friends at Masyong’s shop via Starfriend, at times when I got extra between work and playing Magic or building my Gunpla kits.

We slightly stopped when HOTS expansion was released and are still waiting for the update patch for the Starfriend software which we uses for LAN gaming (and because we can’t afford to buy the original one with the current internet connection scenario in the Philippines).

Anyhow, enough of those historical background of the game. I published this blog post because one of my favorite Terran pro players has just won the first season of the 2013 StarCraft II World Champion Series. He is Innovation (real name Lee Shin Hyung) from the team STX SouL. He defeated in the finals a formidable Protoss player sOs of the team Woongjin Stars.

It was not an easy matchup as both players had to undergo into the deciding Game 5 in the semis to get the shot to the final round. They faced GSL champions SoulKey (vs sOs) and MVP (vs Innovation). The finals proved the skill advantage of the Terran player against Protoss as it was a sweep 4-0.

Congratulations to INnoVation for winning the 2013 WCS Season 1!

Tournament recap can be found here.

So I encountered this error while updating a client’s WordPress site based on the iTheme template. This happened after I updated the WordPress version in its latest which is 3.4.2. At first I thought it was just a plugin conflict but after I tested each of the plugin, the error still persists. The best resort is of course Google for answer and I found out that a lot of other WP users have also encountered the same error.

The error message that appeared was “Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at …/wp-includes/general-template.php:2099) in …/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 866“.

WordPress has already included a solution for this error in their FAQ Troubleshooting page but it does not seem to work on my end. The resolve is to remove extra lines and spaces, before and after the php tag.

What I did to fix that is to comment out the line that caused the error. On my case, it was this line in the general-template.php file.

I just added a double slash at the beginning of the line, saved and tested it. It was a success, and the error disappeared.

This is not a definite solution, and it is most likely that any future update will just put the code back in. I am pretty sure though that WordPress will provide a fix on this on its future versions.

As I was exploring some useful websites to use for references, I came across this particular website that converts websites into its mobile version with just a click. Well, it’s one click but you have to clean up some parts that are not needed for mobile browsers.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;
	min-width:100px;
	max-width:970px;
	width:100%;
	height:200px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-2323336148464359" data-ad-slot="7353149719"></ins>

The site is named Dudamobile and it uses a platform wherein you get to browse and customize your site. You just login to your account on their website and do the edits there, which are just done via drag-and-drop and some clicking. You can choose from different predefined themes to fit your site’s design. Also, you can preview it on different mobile phones like on an Android, an iPhone, etc. Seem pretty sweet.

The site benefits primarily on small and medium local businesses as it has options like Call Us button and a Location Map button (with the use of Google Maps). These features are offered of course, on the premium account. Other premium features includes Google Adsense, Paypal button, Google Checkout button, a Restaurant Menu and Open Table. It’s preferred to go premium if you want to gain more audience online for your local business.

Dudamobile’s complete features can be found here and their subscription plans here.

I think this is worth the repost so I am sharing this inspiring article with you guys. As the quote on the website says, “When you stop chasing the wrong things you give the right things a chance to catch you.” Here are the things that you should stop doing to yourself right now (and I mean it).

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
 style="display:inline-block;
	min-width:100px;
	max-width:970px;
	width:100%;
	height:200px"
 data-ad-client="ca-pub-2323336148464359"
 data-ad-slot="7353149719"></ins>

1. Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you. If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot. Never, ever insist to someone who continuously overlooks your worth. And remember, it’s not the people who stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends.

2. Stop running from your problems. – Face them head-on. No, it won’t be easy. There is no person in the world capable of flawlessly handling every punch thrown at them. We aren’t supposed to be able to instantly solve problems. That’s not how we’re made. In fact, we’re made to get upset, sad, hurt, stumble, and fall. Because that’s the whole purpose of living – to face problems, learn, adapt, and solve them with time. This is what ultimately molds us into the person we become.

3. Stop lying to yourself. – You can lie to anyone else in the world, but you can’t lie to yourself. Our lives improve only when we take chances, and the first and most difficult chance we can take is to be honest with ourselves.

4. Stop putting your own needs on the back burner. – The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much and forgetting that you are special too. Yes, help others; but help yourself too. If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now.

5. Stop trying to be someone you’re not. – One of the greatest challenges in life is being yourself in a world that’s trying to make you like everyone else. Someone will always be prettier, someone will always be smarter, someone will always be younger, but they will never be you. Don’t change so people will like you. Be yourself and the right people will love the real you.

Numbers 6 to 30 are found here. I hope we all relate to this and start a positive outlook on our lives.

Until the next post.

Ever wondered where to get cool images for your Facebook timeline banner? A particular site I’ve found gathered the top ten websites that provides you these images. I was browsing for a timeline generator when I stumbled on this list.

First is the Cover Photo Finder, which is the most suggested website. There are three major categories to choose for the images, and also you can choose from the recent photo submissions. The photo installation info and the rest of the websites in the Top Ten can be found here.

Here’s my latest timeline cover, from my pics on our last year’s trip to Singapore.
