DOM Card Feature: Multani

As I wait for the release of the Dominaria set, I cant help but ponder on the possible new deck archetype that will be mostly focused on the mono-color strategy or maybe splashed with a second color. Currently, I am thinking of Green stompy, Blue Tempo and White weenie decks. I may have to wait until the spoiler is complete to come up with a well-defined list.

As for now, let us get back to the single card feature. For today’s blog post, I am presenting a legendary creature that was part of the first batch of crew of the Weatherlight. He made a significant role during the Phyrexian invasion, and still continue to thrive to protect the plane up until the current Dominaria storyline. Here is Multani, Yavimaya’s Avatar.

As compared to the first version in Urza’s Legacy, the avatar status implied that it is not only becomes bigger as more of your lands are placed on the battlefield but also the ability that it can regrowth itself which is needed in the late game scenarios. Gaining Trample also makes him a great finisher for Ramp strategy type of decks.

I am thinking to have Multani, Yavimaya’s Avatar on a R/G Ramp deck or maybe on other Three-color versions as these are still supported with lots of dual color lands in the Standard format. The second option would have him as a top curve for Mono Green Stompy.

I have not decklist to share for now, but I am pretty sure Multani, Yavimaya’s Avatar will have a great impact in the metagame and will surely live up its name as the Green Avatar.
