Goblins in Dominaria Standard

The recent unintended leak about the upcoming Dominaria set got me hyped into playing Standard again. One major reason is the reprinting of cards that made a significant history in my career as a Magic: the Gathering player. For instance, they have confirmed the reprint of Goblin Warchief which was a very valuable component of the Goblin Bidding deck I played way back in college. This along with the return of Siege-Gang Commander got me brainstorming again of the look and possible reappearance of Goblins in Standard once again.

I’ve checked the spoiler list and here are the possible candidates aside from ones mentioned:

Bloodstone Goblin
1R
Creature – Goblin Warrior
Whenever you cast a spell, if that spell was kicked, Bloodstone Goblin gets +1/+1 and gains menace until end of turn. (It can’t be blocked except by two or more creatures.)
2/2

Goblin Barrage
3R
Sorcery
Kicker—Sacrifice an artifact or Goblin. (You may sacrifice an artifact or Goblin in addition to any other costs as you cast this spell.)
Goblin Barrage deals 4 damage to target creature. If this spell was kicked, it also deals 4 damage to target player or planeswalker.

Goblin Chainwhirler
RRR
Creature – Goblin Warrior
First strike
When Goblin Chainwhirler enters the battlefield, it deals 1 damage to each opponent and each creature and planeswalker they control.
3/3

Squee, the Immortal
1RR
Legendary Creature – Goblin
You may cast Squee, the Immortal from your graveyard or from exile.
2/1

It ain’t that enough at the moment but I think Goblins from the previous sets can give support to this archetype. We will see if we just plain Mono Red or splash a second color like White for Radiant Destiny.

That is about for this post. Stay tuned for an update once the full Dominaria card spoilers are out. Until next time.
