First Test of the Tamiya Panel Line Wash

So I’ve just recently bought the Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color, a premade enamel product used for panel lining and panel washing kits. I bought two colors, Black and Brown to be used for future projects, though I’d also use them to detail previously built Gundam kits.

I didn’t immediately make some testing as I was still looking for advice on the right solution to use for cleaning the excess paint. Good thing they all advised that the lighter fluid is the cheapest cleaning agent and just cost me around 25 pesos.

The part I used is the back of the shield of the RX-78-2 Gundam. Basing on reference Youtube videos, I just applied the wash in tiny dips letting the paint flow through the lines and edges. Here is its initial look:

After letting the paint dry, I then dipped the cotton bud with the lighter fluid and started wiping the excess paint. Here is how it looked after:

I still see small excess paint on the some parts but overall I am quite satisfied with the turn out of the wash. The Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color I bought at 280 pesos each from my supplier but I have checked on other hobby shops in Manila that it is around 190 pesos. One good thing though is that my supplier was able to ship the paint bypassing the usual courier issues.

If you are just around Manila, I’d suggest you buy from the cheaper store (and one major hindrance on living in the province).

Anyhow, see you in the next post.
