Use Paypal with the UnionBank EON Card

Being a freelance Web developer, one of the major issue is on receiving payment or salary from the client. Since they are outsourcing from overseas, I’ve observed that their common method is to pay via Paypal. The use of this online payment system in the Philippines seems to be growing fast by the years. The problem though is that local banks seems to have no integration feature for Paypal, aside from Unionbank’s EON Cyber Account card.

Sign up for PayPal and start accepting credit card payments instantly.

When I first applied for the Eon card in 2007, only a few had knowledge that this can be used with Paypal. Good thing I have scoured over the net on the processes to do so. I am sharing with you again on how to apply for both accounts and integrate Paypal with your Unionbank EON card.

1. First, do the application for an EON account since this can take time to process. Find you nearest Unionbank branch by clicking here. Prepare at least 350 pesos for application fee. Here is the complete method on opening the account. Wait for 7 days or more for the completion of processing of your card.

2. Now for your Paypal account, you can apply here. Be sure to enter the real credentials for verification later on.

3. Lastly, after you have received your Unionbank EON card, you can now connect that to your Paypal account. Log in to your PayPal account and find the verify link to add your bank. You will be asked to input your 4 digit EXPUSE number. It can be found on your transaction details. Log in to your EON account and click on your statement details. The PayPal 9-digit bank code for UnionBank of the Philippines is 010419995. That’s about it, you can now check on My Account tab that your status is Verified.

As for the withdrawal fees, make sure your transfer amount is more than 7,000php or Paypal will charge 50 pesos for amounts below that. You can check the Paypal conversion rate on the Withdraw page. Later on, Unionbank will be charging a 350 pesos annual fee which is automatically debited from your account.

The benefit of having an EON card is not only for your client but also for buying and shopping online or on malls. You can easily use Paypal or just swipe your card for your purchases. You can check Unionbank’s Paypal Guide for more info or just leave a comment below and I’ll try to help as much as I can.

Until the next post.
