With the current pandemic effect of the Novel Corona (CoVid19) virus affecting the world, the health officials have one advice in terms of prevention of the spread of this virus. One way is to practice social distancing at least one meter away per person and to avoid social gatherings and events of any sort.
That means our local Magic: the Gathering tournament is now cancelled until further notice. Thus, paper Magic is currently not an option.
As an alternate to cure our itch on playing this game, one local game store, Nth Dimension: Comics and Games, decided to hold a Magic Arena Standard tournament. I have known that most players have already accounts on this platform and are playing in online Standard tournaments and what the store did was just schedule one that also in the same time slot of our weekly Wednesday Night Magic event.
We used a group chat to coordinate with the players and the tournament organizers as per the time, pairings, and prizes. The registration was free for the meantime until the participants agree on a payment platform (I.e. Gcash) to use.
The initial tournament was announced in the store’s FB page and was joined by around twelve players. A few rules and interaction questions were answered in the group chat and in private message if needed. All in all it turned out well and we might have two or more Magic Arena tourneys soon so just stay tuned for the announcements in case you guys are interested to join.
