Brewing the M20 Core Set Pt. 1

I initially stated that the upcoming Magic 2020 Core Set looks to lean on supporting the older formats (Modern, Legacy, etc) with the reprints of relevant and meta-impacting cards. This is, of course, a major challenge to have these cards work out in the Standard format. One example is sideboarding Leyline of the Void against Izzet Phoenix decks to stop their graveyard shenanigans.

Those three-color Mythics are supported by the current Shocklands and other dual mana fixers for us to cast them on the right curve as possible. Having their effect and ability to be relevant is another question. That is mainly because of the limited coverage of the format. For instance, Kaalia, Zenith Seeker may not grab the right Angel, Demon or Dragon creature which is not as powerful as it is in the Modern format.

Anyway, these points back to how the deck is set-up along with the card interactions. The existing deck archetypes that are planeswalker-based from War of the Spark might get its improvement or something else relevant.

For deck brew ideas, I will start with the basics such as Mono Color or Dual Color Aggro decks. I have posted previously one build of the Orzhov Lifegain aggro deck and I am looking to improve some of the current Tribal decks in the format. My partial list of the decks are as follows:

Mono-Red/Rakdos Goblins
Simic Merfolks
Orzhov Vampires
Gruul Elementals
Azorius Flyers
Mono-White Angels

I will come up with a separate blog post for each of these deck builds along with a short discussion of the card components so stay tuned for those.
