This week is the first of the weeks of the preview season for Magic 2014 Coreset. So far it is already halfway of the total cards in the set that has been revealed. The five planeswalkers of the set is now complete with Chandra’s preview last Monday. She joins Garruk as the two new versions of walkers, while the rest (Ajani, Jace, and Liliana) are reprints.

A few reprints are also there, including staples like Mutavault and Scavenging Ooze. There are a few that I’d like in the set but overall, my current verdict is that the set is not worth the buy. I think there’re only a handful of cards that are play worthy for Standard and other formats. Maybe it is because half the set are reprints. Only Magic 2011 is the core set I considered that is budget beneficial.

Anyhow, we’ll see what cards remaining in the set that can be added to the playable pile. Here are a few of my favorites.
