Last Friday night was one of the jam-packed tournament of the local Iloilo MtG community. It was because that night was the Magic Origins Release Party and FNM. The format is Standard with Origins being legal to play and the participants each received a Launch Party promo foil Mizzium Meddler. The Top 4 prizes of promo foil Path to Exile were up for grabs along with booster packs from the new set.

A total of 20 players went to battle and spell-sling and here are the Top 4 players after four rounds of gameplay:

1st, Jason (Green White CoCo)
2nd, Eric (Jeskai Aggro)
3rd, Mark Co (Abzan CoCo Warriors)
4th, Mark Ian (Abzan Midrange)

I played the controllish midrange version of Abzan with zero Magic Origins cards and finished 3-1, losing to Jason’s GW CoCo. Languish might fit in the deck but I personally do not like the conditional removal even if it is one mana cheaper that the Crux or End Hostilities. That might change if aggro would be more prevalent in the local metagame.
