Magic: the Gathering‘s latest gaming application Spellslingers shows a variance in the gameplay that is inspired by that of Hearthstone. That which was also referenced in Magic’s gameplay. It is somewhat a return to the comeback.
By its Wiki definition, “Originally announced as Valor’s Reach, inspired by the Kylem stadium of the same name where magical duels are fought, the game offers a new take on mobile CCGs by combining opportunistic bluffing and counterplay that delivers depth and strategy with mobile accessibility.
Magic Spellslingers is a spin-off of the actual tabletop magic game with different rules. Critics have described the game as Hearthstone pasted onto Magic. Spellslingers are Magic: The Gathering’s most iconic characters, reimagined with expressive animations and colorful voice lines. Chandra, Jace, Liliana, Ajani, Vivien, and many more — all battling it out for bragging rights in an explosive mobile arena.”
I tried the game last week to see its initial gameplay where I expected the tutorials to be similar to that of Magic Arena. The rules, however, were not entirely the same as Instants are replaced by “Traps” where they trigger upon specific conditions.
I have recorded the first gameplay on my smartphone with the training mode, and one match in the ranked mode. You can check it all below.
