MTG Arena Playtest Sesh 1

This is sort of a mini-segment for me as I try to build my card pool again in Magic: the Gathering Arena. I will also do the daily quest and try to win as much as possible with the cards I have. At the moment, I don’t think my cards is enough to come up with a decent competitive deck for Standard Ranked and so the usual Draft events will be my go-to once I get enough gold to register.

Earlier today, I came up with the Blue-White Flyers tempo deck with my card pool as I saw a few of this deck archetype in my previous matchups. The deck reminds me of our Bant Spirits deck in Modern which it has a few relevant counterparts in Standard.

While I could not go with a playset of the relevant cards, I just did replaced it with some one-of cards that go inline with the deck’s strategy: that is to out tempo their creatures while you dwindle their life total with your flyers.

Here below are two screenshots of my matches:

This was against Dimir Roques where I was able to stopped his aerial assault by out-tempoing him with my Sphinxes.
Another match with Orzhov Clerics where I gained the advantage with the help of Jace, Mirror Mage and also the usual tempo and card draw spells.

I might plan to improve this build later on if the metagame coincides with these type of deck strategies, or if there is one deck that will gain a strong finish in a major Magic: the Gathering Arena tournament. While I am also a fan of the Rogue Tribal decks, I think it will still be a long shot to complete the list as I try to maintain a free-to-play playstyle. For now, Blue-White Flyers is the way.
