My Jund Monsters List last Iloilo JOU Gameday

Good day and Happy Independence Day guys! It is a holiday (though I’m not sure about my client) so I am pondering some topics to post for today’s blogging schedule. I remembered that I did not post my deck from the previous Iloilo JOU Standard Gameday so I thought to share the list today.

I played Jund Monsters and the list was based on Chris Van Meter’s build from the SCG Standard Opens:

Maindeck
23 LANDS
4 Stomping Ground
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Forest
4 Temple of Abandon
3 Blood Crypt
2 Mutavault
2 Temple of Malice

25 CREATURES
4 Stormbreath Dragon
4 Polukranos, World Eater
4 Elvish Mystic
4 Sylvan Caryatid
3 Courser of Kruphix
3 Ghor-Clan Rampager
3 Scavenging Ooze

6 INSTANTS and SORC.
1 Abrupt Decay
2 Dreadbore
2 Mizzium Mortars
1 Putrefy

6 OTHER SPELLS
4 Domri Rade
2 Xenagos, the Reveler

Sideboard
1 Mizzium Mortars
2 Putrefy
2 Golgari Charm
1 Doom Blade
2 Nylea’s Disciple
2 Mistcutter Hydra
2 Rakdos’s Return
1 Ruric Thar
2 Thoughseize

My changes were Mizzium Mortars and Putrefy in the maindeck whereas Thoughseizes and a Ruric Thar were added in the sideboard. The latter two made relevant plays in my matchups versus Blue White Control and Devotion to Golgari. Rakdos’s Return was still the best sideboard on these decks, and works well with Thoughtseize, netting my knowledge if I should play around a counterspell or go for a huge RR.

So far this is my preferred deck for the upcoming WMCQ, which is if there are no relevant M15 cards that may affect the Standard metagame. My planned changes so far is the inclusion of Golgari Charm maindeck replacing Abrupt Decay, as I am expecting more enchantments to see play in the top decks plus it protects your critters to sweep and spot removal which is the arsenal of these decks. I will be posting an updated list after M15 spoilers are out so just stay on the grid for that.

That is about it and until the next post.
