There has been a preview last night for the Core Set 2019 on what would be the two planeswalkers that will be included in the set’s Planeswalker decks. It was revealed that they will feature a new version of Tezzeret and Liliana Vess. Here below is a screenshot of the product.

As shown above, Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist will be the latest title of this servant of Bolas and he is again up to the manipulation of artifacts. For six mana, he is actually good. Let us break down his abilities.

+1: Draw a Card. Not as impressive as that of Teferi but nevertheless he still gets you a card which is quite needed especially for control matchups.

+0: Until your next turn, target artifact you control becomes a 5/5 creature in addition to its other types. Having a blocker to defend the walker is a big plus when checking its power level. Of course, he will be in an artifact-based deck so you can turn your Mox Ambers or Prophetic Prisms into 5/5 beaters.

-7: Put any number of cards from your hand onto the battlefield face down. They’re 5/5 artifact creatures. The ultimate looks promising for midrange or control deck, wherein most of the time you have a grip of four to five cards in hand. It also goes well with card draw spells like Pull from Tomorrow where you cast it EOT and then ultimate the Tezzeret in your turn.

I will not produce a decklist just yet as the complete Core Set 2019 spoiler is not yet complete but I think you get the picture on what the deck will look like. We can have a few utility artifacts or go purely to be an artifact deck and go Blue Black like the Antiquities War deck I built last time.

We will see how it will go once the Planeswalker decklist is out in the coming weeks. For now, I will surely have this on my preorder list.
