I have always been fond of teaching people how to play Magic: the Gathering and always try to schedule demo events for the Iloilo community. So far I am glad to see the fruits of this labor as new faces have been appearing on Friday Night Magic and on our weekly Saturday Standard tournaments. These younglings can then, later on, become the future of Magic Iloilo, representing us in major World Magic Cup Qualifiers and Grand Prix events.

Our recent MtG Demo event was last September 11 held at Rei’s Place. I had a few demo decks which I brought back from the Asia Pop Comic Con and so I had enough of these decks to give to the new players. There is no registration fee of course and I also had a few Eldritch Moon cards for giveaways.

A few of the players that attended the demo events in the past has brought their friends or younger brother/sister to also learn the hobby. Good thing I had a few volunteers who just did the demo games for me as I could not cater all of them at the same time. The venue was quite jam packed and all of the demo decks were given away.
