As M14 became legal last Friday, deck archetypes got to use a few of the new and old/reprinted cards in the set. The first major tournament that gets to use these was the SCG Open in Richmond. Day One was M14 Team Sealed while the second day was the Standard Open.
After nine rounds of the Standard gameplay, eight players remained & with a few new archetypes emerged. Mono Green was the highlight deck of the event, which made it into the top 4. It was AJ Sacher’s White Black Tokens though that won the tournament.
The deck’s new inclusion was the human Rotlung Reanimator, Xathrid Necromancer, and the reprinted pseudo-Human land, Mutavault. I’d refer to this list as more of a W/B Humans deck though. He defeated the powerhouse Jund midrange in the finals, which also utilized an M14 card in the form of the Legacy staple Scavenging Ooze.
