Zendikar Spoiler Updates

Hey guys, a lot of card updates for the upcoming Zendikar set has been revealed today. First off is the complete Sorin Markov planeswalker card. The final piece of the puzzle which is the second ability was revealed at the official Magic site today. It states, “-3 (Pay three loyalty): Target Opponent’s life total becomes 10.” Its a pretty awesome ability that negates whatever the life the opponent has whether its 40, 400 or even 4,000,000 (which is possible for combo decks). Here is the complete Sorin Markov planeswalker card that we will about to see in booster packs this October:

The next preview is a land that has a somewhat Landfall like ability whenever you play a Mountain. Check out Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle.

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle

Land (Rare)
Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle enters the battlefield tapped.

Whenever a Mountain enters the battlefield under your control, if you control five other Mountains, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle deals 3 damage to target creature or player.

{T}: Add R to your mana pool.

Pretty nice ability huh. A free Lightning Bolt everytime you play a Mountain. The problem though is you needed at least 5 other Mountains for this to work. I guess Wizards is pushing us now to go mono in Zendikar. Also, this is rumored to be the Release card (the Rampaging Baloths for the PR card).

The third one is an update of the planeswalker Chandra Ablaze which is currently being slowly revealed at Facebook. We now have its starting loyalty which is 5 (also similar from the original Chandra Nalaar). I’m hoping for some kick-ass ability to support its casting cost. Sorin has proved it so I’m sure Chandra will be awesome too.

The fourth revelation err update is the casting or mana cost and rarity of the angel from my previous post, Iona, Shield of Emeria. The casting cost was revealed to be nine, 6WWW (six colorless and three white mana) and its a Mythic rare. If the ability would be effective, I guess it will see play despite the high cost. People nowadays though complain whenever a creature card is more than 5 to cast.

The next one is the card preview by the Magic Show host Evan Erwin. The card is a red goblin creature named Warren Instigator. Today’s Magic Show episode revealed the updates which are its casting cost, ability and rarity. Check out the partial card.

Warren Instigator
RR
Creature – Goblin (assuming it is one)
(Mythic Rare)

Double Strike

I can’t say for now if its good or not but Mythics should deserve to have cool abilities and should be powerful (like Baneslayer Angel). We just have to wait (again) until next friday’s episode.

The final update for Zendikar today is from Mana Nation’s Zendikar card preview. Check out Vampire Nighthawk.

Vampire Nighthawk
1BB
(Uncommon)
Creature – Vampire Shaman
Flying
Deathtouch

I’d be happy if he is a 3/2 but a 2/2 wouldn’t make him deserve as a uncommon. He will definitely have a slot in the Vampire decks though.

Based on the previews, I’ll predict that Mono Black Control will come back to be one of the top decks after Zendikar. It got card support from M10 and it will have more on the Vampires theme of Zendikar.

Any assumptions of the decks after Zendikar? Just hit the comments below.

Thanks for reading. Until next time y’all. 😀
