The Strictest Iloilo City ECQ

So we are now placed in the strictest Enhanced Community Quarantine Status up until August 15. That means limiting people movement and business opened during this period. The aim is to lower the COVID cases amid the threat of the Delta variant of the virus that probably caused the spike in the recent weeks. The drawback is the local economy not gaining revenue for another week will greatly affect most businesses particularly the non-essential ones.

The ECQ status only allows essential establishments and industries to operate such as hospitals, groceries, courier, and delivery services among others. The question now is how strictly is the implementation on the ground. As I went to the office today, there were still many jeepney and private vehicles on the road going in and out of the downtown area. Government and police personnel should make sure that the protocols are practiced.

The city is increasing its rate on vaccination which will soon open the centers to the residents that are outside the vaccine category. We are hoping that more vaccines will arrive from Manila so it can be distributed right away to the vaxx centers.

For now we just do our part individually by just avoid gatherings and going out as much as possible. It is a pain in the ass for most of us but then by doing this, we are preventing the spread of the virus.
