Blue Black Control in BFZ Standard I

Blue-Black-Control-in-BFZ-Standard-I
Here is the first version of the Blue Black Control deck archetype basing on the currently spoiled Battle for Zendikar cards. The list was somewhat referenced from the second placer deck in GP Prague which was played by Peter Vieren. The decklist after the cut.

1 Disdainful Stroke
2 Cancel
4 Ruinous Path
4 Clash of Wills
4 Dig Through Time

1 Mage-Ring Network
1 Temple of the Forsaken Gods
4 Polluted Delta

4 Sunken Hollow
2 Opulent Palace

5 Swamp

Cancel is a subpar replacement for Dissolve but still it serves the same purpose of a hard counter in the late game. Ruinous Path is equals to Hero’s Downfall, sacrificing the instant ability to a late game 4/4 creature. Dragonlord’s Prerogative is an expensive Jace’s Ingenuity but a fourth card drawn may become relevant in certain situations. I also like having a copy of Coastal Discovery as another Awaken source.

Ob Nixilis Reignited is the new planeswalker to join the lineup of walkers for this deck. Ashiok and Liliana Vess is rotation out and he is the best replacement. He garners the traits of protecting itself and giving card advantage at a small cost of 1 life.

I am sure this list will be updated again once the complete set has been revealed. The loss of Thoughtseize might be relevant but we still have Duress to cope up with the control mirror matchups. We shall see what will be the changes in the coming weeks.
