Built Around Deck: Demons Control

Dragon’s Maze is barely three weeks from now until it hit Standard so I think this waiting period is the right time to build upcoming decks. My deck suggestion for today is a control archetype based on a Rakdos preview card, Sire of Insanity. This bad ass Demon fits well in dealing with Sphinx’s Revelation based decks. Let us look at the card.

It’s a huge late game bomb that needs to be answered at instant speed. It may look at disadvantage as you also discard your hand but all you need is a correct line of play. Here is my suggested decklist:

Mark Ian Alloso’s Demons Control
Standard

Lands
4 Dragonskull Summit
4 Blood Crypt
1 Mountain
2 Cavern of Souls
10 Swamp
3 Rakdos Guildgate

Creatures
3 Bloodgift Demon
3 Desecration Demon
1 Harvester of Souls
2 Olivia Voldaren
3 Sire of Insanity
4 Vampire Nighthawk

Spells
3 Dreadbore
2 Staff of Nin
2 Rakdos Keyrune
2 Sign in Blood
2 Ultimate Price
1 Tribute to Hunger
1 Mizzium Mortars
1 Rakdos’s Return
2 Tragic Slip
2 Searing Spear
1 Breaking // Entering
1 Liliana of the Veil

The goal is simply to control the board on the early turns and then drop the bombs late. Late game gas is provided by card draws from Bloodgift Demon and Staff of Nim which works even with Sire of Insanity in play.

The deck has an average matchup with midrange decks but Sire of Insanity messes that up, especially those that hold to their Sphinx’s Revelation for instant hand refill.

I think the card has very good potential in post Dragon’s Maze Standard, if utilized well. Agree or not? Let me know. 🙂
