Gaze of Granite & the New Jund Midrange

A few of Dragon’s Maze Golgari cards will definitely influence the current metagame decks. One specific deck is Jund Midrange, in which somewhat to be upgraded by Putrefy and Gaze of Granite. This Golgari Sorcery gets a spot against the current fast aggro environment. Let me reiterate by this decklist below.

Lands
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Stomping Ground
3 Dragonskull Summit
4 Woodland Cemetery
2 Rootbound Crag
2 Swamp
2 Kessig Wolf Run
4 Blood Crypt

Creatures
4 Thragtusk
3 Huntmaster of the Fells
3 Olivia Voldaren
2 Bloodgift Demon

Spells
2 Bonfire of the Damned
1 Mizzium Mortars
2 Dreadbore
1 Victim of Night
2 Tragic Slip
2 Liliana of the Veil
2 Putrefy
2 Gaze of Granite
4 Farseek
1 Sever the Bloodline
1 Ground Seal
1 Abrupt Decay
2 Garruk, Primal Hunter

The new card inclusion aside from Gaze of Granite is Putrefy, a powerful instant removal from the original Ravnica block. Although there is little artifact targets in the current meta, it can still deal with regenerating critters like Lotleth Troll and Wolfir Avenger.

There are a few two-ofs and one-ofs in the deck that will deal with specific game scenarios. I’ve cut off Arbor Elf as it would not go well with the gaze and decreased Ground Seal into just a single copy. Reanimator might still be popular in Dragon’s Maze Standard, but we have our sideboard to cope up with that.

Garruk and Liliana are still the deck’s best planeswalker choice, with two copies of each. Bloodgift Demon is another new option for me on utilizing a beater coupled with card advantage. It can get past other Thragtusks and can trade with Hellkites for last ditch effort.

There is no definite sideboard plan for the deck just yet, though your best option so far is to use generic cards components and of course graveyard hate.

If you have any ideas in mind for the deck’s development just hit me up on the comments below.
