I viewed the Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Livestream previews last night from the official Magic: the Gathering Youtube channel wherein a lot of new cards from the set were featured and discussed in flavor and mechanic. I will try to detail my take on them by batch or individually, and I will start today with a new burn spell with sort of a “twist”.
Presenting Light up the Night:
An X damage and the awesome art go hand-in-hand, and it gives a clue of Chandra being on the scene in the recent Innistrad storyline. The bonus one damage goes when the target is a creature or planeswalker, which it will likely use in the early game, increasing its effectiveness. The flashback cost, however, is what I am referring to. Having loyalty counters from your planeswalkers as the payment for X is situational and leaning more on the endgame. Depending on your deck build, spare loyalty counters can be useful in exchange for the extra damage done for the flashback cost. I still have to check which planeswalkers but I assure you that Red can provide one that can feed with this Sorcery spell.
That is a wrap. For the current Midnight Hunt previews, you can find a lot of them at the Magic: The Gathering Twitter account for quick browsing of the new cards.
Until the next blog post.
