The Magic: the Gathering Pioneer Tournament last Friday was held with eight players in attendance and two teammates participating in the prize grind. It is a good thing that this is a consistent event despite some of the players having schedule conflicts at work or in the family.
As reported by TO Rei in our MTG Iloilo Pioneer group chat, the top finisher deck was a new build courtesy of Ace’s uncommon idea. Ericson played it and it was a version of the Fires of Invention Control deck with the Jeskai colors. It was the first time the deck was played in the tournament without any playtest to back it up. The good thing was that Ericson had experience playing the Fires deck back in Throne of Eldraine Standard, so the same strategy was easily adopted on this one.
Here is below the recap of the Top 4 player finishers after three rounds of gameplay.
1st, Ericson Carganillo
2nd, Paolo Po
3rd, Ace Baron
4th, Ralph Hisancha
I might be now joining the next scheduled tournament on Friday up until my deck project is completed. That deck builds is to be revealed soon, so stay tuned for it. Also, if you are interested in joining the Friday Night Pioneer event, just contact me or Rei for details and the location of our Game Store.
That is a wrap for this results recap, until the next blog post.
