We all know that control decks, in particular, the Esper colors are here to stay in the format, and is the card component support is introduced in every new Magic: the Gathering set released. The upcoming Innistrad: Midnight Hunt is no exception. The two cards revealed today say that control is still a powerhouse deck and only using new toys.
First up is the newest mass removal for White. See Wipe out the Horde.
It gets less mana cost for each creature, and eight mana total ain’t a major drawback, especially that facing aggro decks such as Mono White or Red Deck Wins as they usually curve out creatures from turn one onwards. They would usually have at least four creatures already by your turn four, so you can cast the sorcery for four mana. Its condition may not sit well in a regular Standard control deck, but two copies may help fill up the gap.
Next up is Blue-Black’s manipulation spell, Siphon Insight.
It would not disrupt the opponent’s card draw but actually, gain value out of them. It works well against other control decks or those that use Tutors in Eternal formats to get their best card against you. The good news is that you can use it twice with Flashback, and it gets better in the long game. I can use this as a sideboard card for now because of its specific use and might consider in the main if the metagame would be mostly filled with midrange and control decks.
