Will Standard Stabilize post-Omnath?

I have checked on some Magic: the Gathering news in the past days after the banning of Omnath and it seemed that the community is now hopeful the Standard metagame will now be free of monopolizing decks. Those do sure will still exist in the daily events, but being powered down will surely affect their gameplay.

They’d also see it to be balanced and healthy for the coming weeks and I’d expect some new variance of decks to gain top finishes. It is a worry though that some of the Zendikar Rising boosters opening Omnath will now find its use in other formats where it is legal to play.

Anyhow, I’ve read on this post on Reddit MagicTCG that a certain local game store is giving out cards from the promo packs as sort of a “refund” for their customers that have opened a card from booster packs that are banned in Standard. This is a good initiative and also a way to promote their LGS to potential customers. I’d like to see more of it in other LGS especially those whose orders are still pending due to the shipping delays caused by the pandemic.

In the coming weeks, I will be posting in between some Standard deck update with the new metagame on hand. I might detail some of it based on specific Magic: the Gathering tournaments so we will see.
