Card rotations are one of the major things I hate when playing Standard. You get to enjoy new cards and brewing new deck archetypes but the financial value mostly hurts. One solution is to get yourself into a group wherein you can divide your expenses on buying the cards, and it is a good thing I am into one.
Our card pool unofficially is now an eight-person group. What cards to buy and decks to build are initially decided, but we still have yet to establish a trust fund which we can use for future purchases. Shocklands are reprinted in Return to Ravnica so we won’t have to worry on those. Anyhow, here are our current deck archetypes.
Selesnya Aggro – it is a given archetype since we were playing Naya Pod before the rotation. We currently still lacking Loxodon Smiter and a few hybrid Selesnya cards.
Rakdos Zombies – this also is a given archetype after the rotation. Dreadbore and the cacklers are the new additions in the deck, and we will be shifting to Jund once my Loltroll orders arrive.
Esper Tokens – we are bringing back tokens with a list that got second in a major tourney by TCG Player.
Izzet Delver – our current experiment deck (very much like Izzet mages) because we are still debating on using Delver of Secrets or Nivmagus Elemental. This is my current favorite archetype as it has ways to deal with the current metagame.
So that’s about it. We are still planning on buying more Jaces as our preorder predictions failed on him again.
Until next post!
