We have held Magic: the Gathering tournaments on weekdays aside from the usual FNM and had the formats, Standard, Standard Pauper, and Modern. That was when players are actively participating and willing to spend their weeknights competing in a match of Magic the Gathering. That was way before Return to Ravnica and Theros Standard era.
