The Standard metagame still continues to evolve after each Grand Prix and other major tournaments. Last weekend revealed the triumph of Blue Black Zombies at Lille, France, while the control version of the same colors dominated SCG 5k at Tampa Florida.

As the Standard decks continue to evolve in the metagame, it’s normal that we look at a few archetypes before Dark Ascension entered the format. One, in particular, is the Esper Control archetype. I remembered that this was one of the favorite decks from last World’s championships and from Iloilo Champs 2011 & I think that this still has potential and needs a little tweaking.
It seems that there is still hope in piloting Zoo for Modern. In the recent GP Lincoln, Player of the Year and Team Fireball member, Owen Turtenwald completed Day 1 piloting a Zoo deck with an untarnished record of 9-0. Continue reading
